Virtual/Telehealth Mental Health at Mission Connection
At Mission Connection, we do not expect every single person to show up to the treatment center multiple days a week for treatment. No matter how badly you need it – logistics, work schedules, school, and family responsibilities are very real struggles that can make in-person attendance difficult.
If you have concerns like this, our virtual mental health programs might be a good fit for you.
We offer telehealth alternatives for both our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Virtual programs deliver the same clinical intensity as in-person programs, without requiring you to be physically on-site.
On this page, you’ll find all you need to know about the schedules and formats of our virtual outpatient programs. So, you can imagine how mental health support could slot into your life.
Mission Connection’s Comprehensive Telehealth Model
Mission Connection offers two levels of virtual care, both of which are intense and structured, but they don’t require you to attend the program in-person. You are also not under 24/7 supervision.
They include:
- Virtual intensive outpatient program (VIOP)
- Virtual partial hospitalization program (VPHP)
Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program
VIOP is for people who find that weekly therapy is insufficient for their mental health needs, but they can’t commit to full-day care. During a VIOP, you’ll attend different sessions for a minimum of three days per week, and each day, your sessions will last for 3–5 hours.
The majority of your sessions will consist of group programming, but you will also get a dedicated one-on-one therapy session per week and biweekly psychiatric medication management.
We offer VIOP as a:
- Step-down level of care for those who transition from a partial hospitalization program, or
- Direct entry point if you’re looking for more structured support than traditional outpatient therapy.
Virtual Partial Hospitalization Program
Our virtual Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is more intensive than our VIOP. In a virtual PHP, you don’t need to visit our facility every day, but your therapy sessions will still be scheduled for about six hours every day, five days a week. It’s more like a full-day treatment experience within a virtual setting.
Very similar to the VIOP we just discussed, our PHPs also include group therapy sessions, weekly individual therapy, and psychiatric care. However, the frequency and duration of these sessions are greater than VIOP.
The PHP works great as a transition point of care for individuals who are fresh out of residential mental health treatment.

How Is Treatment Delivered in a Virtual Setting?
Mission Connection combines group therapy, individual counseling, and psychiatric care into a single, cohesive treatment plan.
We create a structured healing community in which our clients identify what their mental health struggles are and how they can be treated alongside their deeps and supported by our clinicians in real time.
The intensity of our programs goes way beyond what once-a-week therapy delivers. The level of engagement achieved in our program can lead to the progress of three months of traditional weekly therapy within one week.
Who Is a Virtual Treatment Program For?
Our virtual treatment programs are designed for adults (18+), or for adolescents ages 12–17 through the Mission Connection Teen route.
This program is a strong fit for individuals who need more structured support than what they get through weekly therapy, but they do not require 24/7 supervision in a residential setting. It is also convenient for people who prefer remote access to treatment due to location, transportation, or other reasons.
Our telehealth programs serve an important role within the continuum of care. They are also best-suited for individuals ready for independence as they transition from residential treatment under structured clinical support.
Scheduling Options for Virtual Mental Health
All Mission Connection’s telehealth programs are made to fit into our clients’ real lives. We understand that if you are opting for virtual outpatient care, you likely have your usual responsibilities of work, school, and family that you need to make time for. Therefore, we offer flexible scheduling models.
Our virtual programming runs Monday through Saturday. Each day, you can attend sessions from 6:00 AM PST (9:00 AM EST) to 8:30 PM PST (11:30 PM EST), whatever time suits you best.
We give our clients the freedom to make their own treatment schedule. You can choose:
- On which days you want to attend your therapy sessions each week
- Which specific group sessions you want to participate in
The autonomy makes it easier for you to continue with your treatment without sacrificing any responsibilities outside of care.
Mission Connection’s Adult Virtual Curriculum
The curriculum for adults consists of evidence-based clinical therapy models, some experiential therapies, and skills-based groups. Your sessions are not repeated every week. Instead, you get rotated under different modes of therapy.
Here’s what a week in therapy for adults looks like in our telehealth clinics:
1. You begin the day with morning check-in sessions consisting of:
- Sunrise yoga
- Meditation
- Monday AM check-in sessions
- Balanced wellness-themed group sessions
2. During the day, you will have multiple sessions. Throughout, evidence-based mental health therapies will be delivered, such as:
- Dialectical behavioral therapy
- Cognitive behavioral therapy specific to anxiety and depression
- Acceptance and commitment therapy
- Solution-focused therapy
- Narrative therapy
3. Based on individual circumstances, we form groups of individuals with shared challenges and lived experiences for peer support. They include:
- Groups for combating negative thinking
- Groups of trauma survivors
- Groups for victims of intimate partner violence
- Wellbriety
- Group for those with concomitant substance use learning how to manage their cravings
You may also be part of experiential therapies like writer’s workshop, music therapy, and cinema therapy, where you reconnect with yourself in a more expressive format.
Mission Connection’s Teen Virtual Program
Mission Connection’s teen virtual program considers the developmental and behavioral needs of each adolescent and delivers age-appropriate care. We also structure the program in a way that does not disrupt academic responsibilities.
During the academic year, we hold groups in the late afternoon and evening, between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM, so that you continue to attend school during the day. During the summer months, we offer a Summer Session with earlier afternoon programming.
Our teen groups keep adolescents actively engaged in therapy with the following themes:
- Soundtrack to healing
- Breaking cycles
- Navigating through life
- Artful expressions
- Social media and its impact
Teen therapy includes a mandatory virtual family support group every other Monday at 5:30 PM and other dedicated family therapy sessions as needed to keep the guardians involved in the therapeutic process.
Mental Health Conditions We Treat in Virtual Programs
Mission Connection’s virtual programs offer clinically integrated care for the following conditions:
- Anxiety disorders
- Depressive disorders
- Bipolar and related mood disorders
- Trauma and stressor-related disorders, including PTSD
- Thought disorders, such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder
In addition to primary mental health conditions, we also treat people with co-occurring (dual diagnosis) conditions. Our integrated approach addresses both simultaneously within the same treatment plan.
Mission Connection is here to help you or your loved one take the next steps towards an improved mental well-being.
