Outpatient Mental Health Treatment at Mission Connection

Outpatient mental health treatment is a great option if you’re looking for support that fits around your schedule. With outpatient therapy programs, you don’t need to take time away from work, family, or other responsibilities. And you don’t need to live in a facility to get the care you deserve. Instead, you can still get the care and support you are looking for, all while still being engaged in your daily life.

At Mission Connection, our outpatient behavioral health services allow you to access specialized treatment without having to leave your everyday life. Our program is for those who need more than occasional therapy but don’t need hospitalization or overnight stays.

Mission Connection’s outpatient mental health programs for adults are great if you’re experiencing depression, anxiety, or other behavioral concerns and want structure with flexibility. We’re here to empower you to take charge of your mental health while staying connected to your day-to-day life. Read on to learn more about what our outpatient programs can offer.

Our Outpatient Treatment Approach

At Mission Connection, we approach outpatient treatment with the simple philosophy that healing happens faster in community. We don’t see group-based care as a substitute for individual therapy, but rather as a part of the process for you to feel less alone and isolated in your experiences. Whether you’re stepping down from a higher level of care or using outpatient as a starting point because weekly sessions no longer feel like enough, we offer consistent, structured support.

What to Expect in Outpatient Care at Mission Connection

Starting outpatient psychiatric treatment can feel like a big step, and it’s understandable to be nervous. The process is pretty straightforward, and we’re here to walk with you for every step of it. But if you’re not sure where to begin, you can start by taking our free mental health assessment. This assessment is quick and easy, taking less than five minutes and providing instant results, empowering you to decide what steps to take next.

You can also connect with a certified professional to discuss your results. Then, if you decide outpatient care is right for you, here’s what you can expect:

Step 1: An Initial Assessment

You’ll begin outpatient treatment with an in-depth evaluation where we get to know you and find out what’s been feeling most difficult for you. In this evaluation, the clinician will ask about your symptoms and how they’re impacting you, as well as your goals and what you hope to gain from treatment. The clinician will also ask you about your medical and mental health history, as well as your current living situation and support system. All of this information helps us figure out what level of care is right for you and create a plan that addresses your needs.

Step 2: Personalized Program Placement and Treatment Plan

Based on your needs and requests, you’ll be placed in one of our outpatient therapy programs, either partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient. From there, we’ll walk you through your weekly schedule so you know what to expect from the start. Then you’ll work with one of our clinicians to create a treatment plan that addresses your goals and the steps you want to take to meet them.

Step 3: Begin Structured Treatment

Once you start, your care will include a mix of group therapy, individual sessions, and psychiatric support. You’ll attend scheduled sessions each week while continuing to live at home and maintain your routines. And as your symptoms improve or progress, your treatment plan will improve or progress with you.

What’s important is you don’t have to have everything figured out when you begin. Outpatient care will meet you where you are and help you move forward from there.

Program Structure and Weekly Schedule

At Mission Connection, we offer two primary levels of outpatient care: a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).

Our PHP is the most structured outpatient option. In this program, you’ll attend sessions for five days a week for five to seven hours per day. A PHP is great if you’re coming from an inpatient program or if you’re just looking for more consistent and immersive support.

In contrast, our IOP is more customizable and flexible and is a great option if you’re looking for more support than standard weekly therapy. However, an IOP does require a minimum commitment of three to five days a week, usually lasting three to five hours per day.

And because we support the realities of everyday life, Mission Connection also offers a highly flexible scheduling model, including a telehealth option for those who don’t live near one of our program facilities. Our telehealth groups are available Monday through Sunday, starting as early as 6:00 AM PST and running into the evening, sometimes as late as 8:00 PM PST, and offering up to nine different groups in a day.

Our in-person facility programming runs Monday to Friday and varies by location. Our Rancho Viejo facility in California runs groups from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Greenlake, Washington location runs offers programming from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Our Bellevue, WA, location has groups from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. And our Virginia locations (Arlington and Falls Church) have groups starting at 10:00 AM until 4:30 PM.
